Gold Coast outfit Mass Sky Raid have dropped another massive slab of melodic rock upon us. The track is a slower paced heavy hitter that leans heavily on the vocal melodies rather than technical wizardry despite the bands clear ability to prog-out and get tricky! Continue reading Mass Sky Raid – Closer (single) 2017
A brilliantly accomplished, well written and produced album. The pain of waiting for this to come along will pay off exponentially with each listen, each goosebump and each singalong. Continue reading Belle Haven – You, Me and Everything In Between (Greyscale) 2017
The first new music from the RMC camp since last years ‘I Just Have a Lot of Feelings’ ep, and this tune features much more of a rock-band vibe than the previously established clean & jangly guitars involved with Rachels indie-pop approach in earlier songs. Perhaps this is the natural flow on effect of gigging with a full-band lineup and building up a national profile as an artist. Whatever the case, im a fan. Continue reading Rachel Maria Cox – Emotionally Untidy (single) 2017
Far Away Stables have attempted a far reach with this new album. The ambition and intent to demonstrate musicality and musicianship is well on display as much as the bands grasp on melody and song writing. It’s not so much..technical..or progressive, it’s just very dramatic, busy and confident. Continue reading Far Away Stables – Between Rage and Serenity (2017)
Intense, focussed and anthemic rock that hits all the right notes. Consistent from start to finish this album is an absolute knock out. Continue reading Branch Arterial – Beyond The Border (2016)

Got 6 minutes to spare to listen to some really exciting and fresh prog/rock from Adelaide? The 3 piece out of Adelaide have packed this jam full of serrating riffs and jarring rhythms. It’s an assault on your ears. I love it. Continue reading Cobra – Gloom (single) 2017
Smooth pop hooks with the backing of an energetic punk-rock band finding their feet. Continue reading Terra – Watercolour (single) 2016

Oh the nostalgia is strong on this one. Sounding like a cross between Death Cab For Cutie and Basement…the mid 00’s emo vibe is waaay big on this release and will resonate with anyone who enjoys the melodic heart-on-the-sleeve sound associated with it. It’s far from a rip off though, not a derivative genre copy. It’s a worthy new addition. I am all about this. Continue reading Recovery Room – A Lesson in Letting Go (2017)
